How to obtain natural modified starch?

The so-called natural modified starch is a kind of natural starch with the same characteristics as chemical modified starch by variety breeding and genetic technology.

There are three ways to change starch biosynthesis in plants to obtain new functional properties：

1. The mutants with deletion of synthetase were identified by screening;

2. The expression of synthetase was inhibited by group mutation or antisense RNA technology;

3. Expression of foreign genes related to or not related to biosynthesis pathway.

At present, many methods have been proposed and applied in the field of plant transformation, including Agrobacterium tumefaciens method, gene gun method, electroporation method, PEG method, pollen tube pathway method and so on. The main advantage of this method is that it is simple to use in Agrobacterium, and the most convenient method is to use monocotyledons as acceptor.
